The Space
This project presented a unique challenge: to create a modern and aesthetically pleasing clothing boutique within a compact 400 sq. ft. space, further constrained by a 7-foot ceiling height. The design had to accommodate a variety of essential functions, including clothing display and hanging units, a service counter, customer seating, a children’s play area, changing rooms, and an inviting entrance – all while maintaining a sense of spaciousness and style. The duplex layout offered potential, but required careful space planning to maximize its potential.
Objectives
- · Maximize Space & Functionality: Optimize the limited square footage to incorporate all required functions without creating a cramped or cluttered feel. Utilize vertical space efficiently given the low ceiling height.
- · Enhance Perceived Height: Employ design strategies to visually expand the vertical dimension and counteract the low ceiling.
- · Modern Aesthetic: Develop a contemporary design language that reflects the brand’s identity and appeals to its target customers.
- · Create Distinct Zones: Clearly define each functional area within the open plan to ensure smooth flow and intuitive navigation.
- · Strategic Lighting: Implement a lighting plan that brightens the space, highlights merchandise, and contributes to the illusion of greater height.
- · Child-Friendly Integration: Seamlessly incorporate a children’s play area that is both engaging and safe, adding value for parents shopping at the boutique.
- · Attractive Entrance: Design an entrance that draws customers in and sets the tone for the boutique’s style and offerings.

The Baghiccha boutique was transformed into a stylish, efficient retail space despite its compact size and low ceiling. Vertical displays, a light color palette, and creative lighting enhanced the sense of openness. Clear zoning defined areas like clothing displays and a playful kids’ corner. The inviting
